JAMALPUR, May 16, 2024 (BSS) - Boro paddy and rice procurement drive began in the district today amid much enthusiasm.

Lawmaker Md Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the procurement drive as the chief guest at Singhajani food godown in the town with deputy commissioner Md Shafiur Rahman in the chair.

Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mehnaj Ferdous, District Food Controller (In-charge) Md Asaduzzaman Khan and Word Councilor Md Fazlul Haque were present, among others.

The food department will procure 17,112 tonnes of boiled rice and 264 tonnes of non-boiled rice from millers and 3,433 tonnes of paddy from farmers till August 31.
