CHATTOGRAM, May 19, 2024 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP, today said the conferences of Chattogram city, thana and ward units of the party will be held and new committees formed by October next.
 
“As per the instruction of the party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the conference of the city AL will be held grandly on the scheduled date and time in the month of October,” he added.
 
Hanif said this as chief guest at a city AL executive committee meeting held at a convention center at city’s Kazir Deweri.
 
City AL President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while AL Central Committee Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, City AL General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, its Vice Presidents Noyem Uddin Chowdhury, Advocate Sunil Kumar Sarkar, Advocate Md. Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, Khorshed Alam Sujan, M. Zahirul Alam Dubhash, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury Bachu, joint general secretary Badiul Alam, members of the advisory board AKM Belayet Hossain, Shafar Ali, Sheikh Mahmud Ishaq, treasurer Abdus Salam MP, former MP Noman Al Mahmud, Shafiq Adnan and Md. Mohiuddin Bachu MP  among others attended the function.
 
Hanif said preparations for strengthening and expanding the foundation of the organizational structure of city AL should be started from now through the conference.
 
“Organizational experience, qualifications and skills of individuals should be given priority in the selection of leadership,” he added.
 
Aminul Islam Amin said AL has been in power for four consecutive terms due to the strong position of grassroots level activists.
 
Former Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin informed that a total of 27 units and 29 wards under the City Awami League committee were not held in due time.
