NATORE, May 23, 2024 (BSS) - A weeklong deworming campaign began today in the district today.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abu Naser Bhuiyan inaugurated the programme at Dattapara Government Primary School this morning as the chief guest with civil surgeon of the district Dr. Muhammad Moshiur Rahman in the chair.

District Education Officer Md Sahaduzzaman, District Primary Education Officer Golam Nabi, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Akhtar Jahan Sathi and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, among others, spoke.

Speakers said that by consuming deworming tablets, the physical and mental health of children will develop and they will be protected from malnutrition. The attention of students will increase in their studies. As a result talented nation will be developed.

Under the weeklong campaign, 4.10 lakh children of primary and secondary levels of the district will be administered deworming tablets. Students aged 5-16 will be brought under the campaign, each of the children will get one deworming tablet free of cost, civil surgeon office source said.

The programme will continue till May 29.
