DHAKA, June 2, 2024 (BSS) – The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has formed a six-member committee to find out those responsible for the failure to send workers to Malaysia before the fixed deadline.
The committee, headed by Additional Secretary Noor Md Mahbubul Haq, has been asked to submit their report within seven working days.
State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury disclosed this to journalists at his ministry office here today.
He said about 16,970 migrant workers failed to reach Malaysia before the deadline of May 31 due to mismanagement while the Bureau of Manpower, Employment, and Training (BMET) approved 493,642 workers to go to Malaysia.
"Those who are responsible will be brought to book," he said, adding that the probe body will submit the report within seven days and steps will be taken based on the probe body's recommendations.
