Coaching centres to remain closed from June 29: Mohibul

 
Dhaka, June 5, 2024 (BSS) - Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury today said that all coaching centres will remain closed from June 29 to August 11 as the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are going to start on June 30.
 
The minister disclosed it while answering the queries of the newsmen at a press conference at the education ministry here.
 
"The decision (regarding the coaching centers) was taken to conduct the examinations in a fair and orderly manner,” he said.

This decision will also help ensure an environment free from rumors of question paper-leakage," he added.
 
This year, a total of 14, 50,790 candidates of 9, 463 educational institutions will appear in nine general education boards, technical education boards and madrasah education boards.
 
Of them, the number of male students is 7, 50,281 while the number of female students is 7, 00, 509. The examinations will be held at 2, 725 centres.
 
Starting from June 30, the written exams of the General Education Board and Madrasa Education Board will end on August 11.
The practical exams of the General Education Board and Madrasa Education Board will be held within August 12-21.
 
 
The written examination in technical board will be held within June 30-July 18 while the practical exam will start on July 19 which will end on August 4.
 
Replying to another query, the minister Mohibul said that the HSC examination in Sylhet will be held in time amid flood as the current situation is favorable.
 
“If the flood situation worsens, pragmatic decisions will be taken considering the convenience of the candidates”, he added.
 
The education minister said even if a student fails in two subjects in SSC and an equivalent examination, he or she can get admission in the HSC exam.
 
But that particular student will get a mark sheet instead of a full certificate, he said, adding that to get a full certificate, the student must pass the examination in two subjects later.
