JAMALPUR, June 9, 2024 (BSS)- A court here convicted four people for killing an easy bike driver in 2016 and awarded them death penalty today.

The condemned persons were identified as Md Mani Taheri son of Joynal Abedin Taheri at village Jhalupara,  Md Rubel Miah son of Amzad Hossain at village Samorthabari Jhalupara, Md Zakir Hossain son of Abdul Latif at village Samorthabari Jhalupara and Sohag son of Abdul Mannan at village Samorthabari in Sarishabari upazila under Jamalpur district.

The court also fined them Taka 50 thousand each.

According to the prosecution story, the condemned persons stole the bike of one Laizu Miah, 22, after strangling him to death on October 1, 2016. The criminals left the body in a field at Mulbari village in Sarishabari upazila.

Following the murder victim’s father Md Amzad Hossain at village Bogarpar in Sarishabari upazila registered a case with Sarishabari police station on October 2, 2016.

Additional District and Session Judge, Muhammad Anowar Sadat after examining 15 witnesses and relevant documents handed down the punishment in absence of Md Zakir Hossain and Sohag who are absconding.
