SYLHET, Sept 26, 2021 (BSS) - Planning Minister MA Mannan today urged all
concerned to further strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to
maintain the continuity of development keeping aside differences of opinion.
The Planning Minister said this while addressing a function as the chief
guest marking the distribution of 750 deep tube wells and 750 twin-pit
latrines among the poor families at Jagannathpur and Shantiganj upazilas in
Sunamganj today.
Terming this government of Sheikh Hasina as the "best government" in the
history of Bangladesh, Mannan said that no other government in the past,
except this present Awami League government, could unleash such a level of
development in the country.
The function was organized by the Shantiganj Upazila Administration and
the Upazila office of the Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE)
held on the premises of Shantiganj Upazila Complex.
The Planning Minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has love and
affection for the people of the Haor region for which she always enquires
about the condition of the people of this region.
He said considering the interest of the haor region, the Premier provided
tube wells, latrines to the people of this region alongside sanctioning a
medical college in Sunamganj.
"She (PM) will provide whatever necessary for this region." Urging all to
ensure efficient use of these tube wells and latrines, Mannan said safe water
would be reached the doorsteps of common people through the pipeline.
Presided over by Shantiganj UNO Anwar Uz Zaman, Sunamganj deputy
commissioner Md Jahangir Hossain, executive engineer of Sunamganj DPHE Abul
Hossain spoke on the occasion as special guests.
Moderated by vice chairman of Shantiganj upazila parishad Nur Hossain,
upazila DPHE officer Engineer Abdur Rob Sarkar gave the address of welcome.
The government is distributing some 8,000 deep tube wells and 8,000 latrines
at Jagannathpur and Shantiganj upzilas under a project.
Already some 14,000 tube wells and latrines have been distributed among
the beneficiaries.
