MANIKGANJ, June 12, 2024 (BSS)- Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Bangladesh Information Commission Dr. Abdul Malek has said the real information can prevent spread of misinformation in the society and the people can exercise their right to information.
 
The CIC Dr. Malek said this while speaking at an awareness building meeting at the District Shilpakala Academy here today evening as chief guest. The Bangladesh Information Commission and Manikganj District Administration jointly organized the function.
 
Dr Malek said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the initiative to establish the people’s right to know the information that they desire from the concerned authorities when she came to the state power in 2009 introducing it to the constitution’ adding that the right to information is the constitutional right of the people.
 
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Manikganj Rahana Akther, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Information Commissioner Shahidul Alam Jhinuk, Additional SP Sujan Kumar Sarkar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Moksedul Momin and Manikganj Municipality Mayor Md Ramjan Ali.
 
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Md. Toriqul Islam delivered the welcome address.
 
All the departmental heads of the government officials, heads of educational institutes, elite, freedom fighters, local journalists and NGO representatives attended the meeting.
