DHAKA, June 13, 2024 (BSS) - Water levels at 45 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 63 stations recorded fall.

Among the 110 monitored river stations, two have been registered steady and water levels at all river stations are flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The Brahmaputra river is steady state while the Jamuna and Gange-Padma rivers are in falling trend, which may continue in the next 24 hours.

 Except the Kushiyara, the major rivers in the North-eastern region of the country are in rising trend, which may continue in the next 24 hours.

“According to information from meteorological organizations, medium to heavy rainfall in the next 24 to 72 hours is expected over the Northern, North-eastern and adjoining upstream parts of the country,” the FFWC bulletin added.

 As a result, the Teesta, Dharala, Dudhkumar rivers in the Northern region and some rivers in the North-Easterm region of the country may rise at times in the next 24 hours.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts of
Bangladesh during the last 24 hours ending at 9 am today.

A total of 166 mm rainfalls were recorded at Lorergarh (Sunamganj), 121mm at Dalia (Nilphamari), 90mm at Sylhet, 65mm at Latu (Sylhet), 62mm at Kurigram, 53mm at Jafflong (Sylhet), 145mm at Moheshkhola (Sunamganj), 100mm at Panchagarh, 79mm at Sunamganj, 65mm at Mymensingh, 54mm at Chattak (Sunamganj) and 53mm at Cilmari (Kurigram).

During the past 24 hours, significant rainfalls (mm) were recorded in some states like West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya of India, the bulletin added.
