DHAKA, June 27, 2021 (BSS) - Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said the government has distributed food at low cost among 42 lakh marginalized people to ensure food and nutrition during the COVID-19 pandemic .
"The government is working relentlessly to ensure food for all people of the country...around 42 lakh poor people get food at low cost in this pandemic situation," he said.
He said this at a virtual meeting on 'National level review and validation of the Nutrition Policy 2020 plan', said a press release.
"The National Food and Nutrition Security Policy -2020 has been formulated for fulfillment of food and nutrition of people,' he said adding, "Nutrition sensitive food system will be ensured in the light of this policy."
He said food and agriculture have made a great contribution to improving the nutritional status of the country.
Secretary of the Ministry Moshammat Nazmanara Khanam presided over the meeting while Director General of Food Planning and Monitoring Unit
Shahiduzzaman Faruqi, Additional Secretary Ruhul Amin Talukder, among others spoke on the occasion.
