DHAKA, June 24, 2024, (BSS)- A Dhaka court here today framed charges against chief of the military wing of the militant organization Ansar Al Islam, sacked army major Syed Ziaul Haque Zia and four others on charges of killing of blogger Nazim Uddin Samad in 2016.
Dhaka Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge of Dhaka M Mojibur Rahman framed the charges against the accused and fixed August 6 for testimony of the accused persons.
The other three accused are- Rashidun Nabi Bhuiya Raihan, Md Sheikh Abdullah and Akram Hossain.
In addition, the court also discharged other 5 accused from the case. They are- Mozammel Hussain Simon, Md Arafat Rahman, Waliullah Oli alias Taher alias Tahsin, Sabbirul Haque Chowdhury alias Akash alias Konik and Maulana Junaid Ahmed Sabbir.
Zia and Akram are absconding since the murder while Raihan and Abdullah are behind the bars.
Nazim Uddin Samad, a student of the Law Department of Jagannath University, was hacked and shot dead by some militants on April 6, 2016 near Laxmibazar area in the old city.
