Country becomes food surplus one for new tech: Palak

NATORE, June 28, 2024 (BSS) - State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said agricultural output has increased many folds due to newly-invented technology and the availability of fertilizer, seed, and irrigation facilities, apart from the training imparted to farmers.

"The availability of fertilizer, seed, and irrigation facilities, along with providing machineries at subsidized prices to farmers, has raised the country's food production significantly," said the state minister.

The state minister made the comments as the chief guest while distributing the agriculture ministry's incentives-Aman seed and fertilizer-to 2,650 small and marginal farmers and the social ministry's cheque of Taka 11 lakh among 22 chronic-disease affected persons at his residence in Singra upazila here this morning.

The function was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hamim Tabassum Prova.

"The livelihood of the people has now become easier and safer in digital-based Bangladesh," he said.

The country, which once faced food deficiency, has now emerged as a nation that has surplus food due to the vibrant leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Palak, adding, "The small and marginal farmers are getting incentives regularly for producing different kinds of crops."

Praising the leadership of the incumbent prime minister, Zunaid said the Premier has ensured the progress of the country with her dedication, merit, and dynamism, making the nation a 'voyager' to be a developed nation.

The prime minister is working relentlessly to bring prosperity to the people of all stairs, he said, adding, "She [Sheikh Hasina] is implementing the 'Amar Gram Amar Sohor' (My Village, My Town) scheme to give people a better life.

"All the facilities, including health, education, roads, and internet, have now reached the villages. Even houses have been constructed for the homeless families... All the villages have awakened with the light of electricity," the state minister told the function.
