DHAKA, June 30, 2024 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister
Saber Hossain Chowdhury today said every citizen should plant at least one
fruit-bearing or a timber or a medicinal sapling to improve the quality of
people's life.
"By planting saplings collectively, we will be able to build a greener,
healthier and more sustainable and resilient environment," he said while
launching the 'One Tree4Mother' campaign.
The environment minister launched the campaign by planting a Neem sapling at
the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
During the time, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma
was present, a ministry press release said.
Speaking on the occasion, Saber Chowdhury highlighted the "One Tree4Mother"
campaign embodies their shared commitment to preserving and nurturing the
environment for future generations and is a testament to the enduring
friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and India.
"Together, we can build more sustainable future, combat climate change, and
leave a lasting legacy for our children and grandchildren," he said.
The environment minister said the campaign fosters a culture of environmental
stewardship and responsibility.
"Everyone has a role in safeguarding our planet by inspiring communities to
come together to plant, nurture and protect trees that, in turn, protect us,"
