Man held with nine gold bars at HSIA

DHAKA, June 30, 2024 (BSS) – A team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) today detained a man with nine gold bars worth about Taka 1.12 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here.

The arrested was identified as Md Parvez, a resident of Chattogram district, CIID Assistant Director Farhana Begum told BSS this evening.

Parvez landed at the HSIA at 11.46am today by a flight of US Bangla (BS-342) from Dubai, she said, adding that as his movement was specious when he was passing the green channel, the CIID team searched him and recovered nine gold bars from his possession weighing 1.238 kgs.

After completing the legal process, a case was filed with Airport Police Station against him and later, he was handed over to the police station, Farhana said.
