Information Commission Bangladesh disposes of 3 complaints

DHAKA, July 3, 2024 (BSS) – The Information Commission Bangladesh, after separate hearings, today disposed of three complaints out of five under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Chief Information Commissioner Dr Abdul Malek, Information Commissioners Shahidul Alam Jhinuk and Masuda Bhatti held the hearing in line with the RTI Act, a press release said.

The Information Commission today assigned Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Taraganj under Rangpur district to investigate into the complaint number 79/2024 of the Commission for not providing information by Superintendent of Namirul Uloom Dakhil Madrasa of the upazila.

The commission also asked the UNO to submit a report after the investigation by 10 working days in this regard.

After the investigation, it was found that an applicant sought information on various issues including a copy of resolution regarding the appointment of night watchman of the madrasa, but the applicant did not get the information.

Later, the applicant filed a complaint with the Information Commission in this regard.

Earlier, on November 8, 2023, the commission fined Taka 3,000 to the madrasha superintendent for not providing required information to the applicant and ordered him to provide the information within 10 working days as per the RTI Act, the release added.

However, the information officer concerned has not provided any information saying that there was no information in the office to this end. After not getting the required information, the petitioner again filed a complaint to the Information Commission.

As a result, the Commission gave the order in today’s hearing, the release added.
