Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, July 4, 2024 (BSS) - Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places in eight divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places in north, south-eastern and north-eastern divisions, said a met release.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over Rangpur, Chattogram and Sylhet Divisions", it said.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay, said the weather forecast valid for next 24 hours from 9am today.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 33.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Ishurdi in Pabna and Srimangal in Moulvibazar. Minimum temperature today was recorded 23.7 degrees Celsius at Bandarbans.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 87 millimeters at Teknaf.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The sun sets at 06:50 PM today and rises at 05:16 AM tomorrow in the capital.
