KHULNA, July 6, 2024 (BSS) - Public Works Minister and Freedom Fighter R A M Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury here today said the government will take necessary measures to preserve the Chuknagar genocide scene.
"The government will take necessary measures to preserve and repair the country's genocide places including Chuknagar," he told a gathering at the Chuknagar Genocide site as the chief guest after paying tributes to the Liberation War Heroes.
Organised by 'Amra Ekattor', a voluntary non-government organization, Khulna deputy commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin chaired it.
Muktadir said freedom fighters should play due role to highlight the real history of Chuknagar Genocide to the new generation so that they can know how the Pakistani Army’s brutally carried out on the helpless Bangalies during the Great Liberation War.
The Freedom Fighters, he said, should inspire the new generation to work for the country with patriotism.
Mentioning that the anti-liberation forces can't recognize the country's Liberation War, the minister said they always express dissatisfaction over hoisting of national flags and singing of national anthem. The anti-liberation forces are hatching conspiracy against the state and government, so the countrymen should be aware of it to resist their conspiracy.
"We will work for continuing the country's ongoing development spree, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
Among others, Khulna Zila Muktijoddha commander Sarder Mahbubur Rahman, Dumuria upazila Muktijoddha commander Nurul Islam Manik, Public Works Secretary Md Nabirul Islam, President and general secretary of Amra '71 Mahbub Zaman and Helal Foyezi and lawmaker SM Kamal Hossain spoke as special guests.
Earlier, the minister exchanged views with Dumiria upazila unit Awami League and associate bodies leaders and workers. Land Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda, MP, was also present.
The Public Works Minister also inaugurated construction works of three link roads to be connected with Satkhira road and Khulna city bypass road, being implemented by the Khulna Development Authurity (KDA).
