DHAKA, July 7, 2024 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mitu, one of the masterminds of a Gazipur Chemical Industry officials kidnapping and robbery of taka 19.45 Lakh, from city's Dakshinkhan area last night.

According to RAB sources, a RAB-1 team conducted a special operation in Dakshinkhan area of the capital on Saturday night and arrested her.

RAB-1 Assistant Director M. Mahfuzur Rahman said, "On the afternoon of June 6 last, three officials of the 'Selvo Chemical Industries Limited' in Sreepur, Gazipur, were abducted at the gunpoint and held hostage by some people impersonating them as RAB officials".

They demanded the money kept for the salaries and bonuses of the workers and rent for truck as ransom.

A case was filed with Gazipur's Sreepur police station the next day.

"During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee admitted her association with this particular robbery. She has also admitted to have been working with the organized bandit group for a long time," the RAB official said.

The arrestee has been handed over to the police, he added.
