DHAKA, July 8, 2024 (BSS) – An intermediate-level student of Dhaka Commerce College has given a confessional statement in a case lodged over the murder of his classmate Zubayer Hasan Rafit, 18. 
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider recorded the statement of accused Razin Iqbal Chowdhury and later sent him to jail. 
 
A team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Razin from the Madhadpur upazila of Habiganj on July 7. 
 
Rafit was the captain of their class and had a dispute with Razin over a disciplinary issue. They engaged in a fight recently and Razin’s parents were summoned over the matter and were warned for their son’s action. Razin wanted to teach Rafit a lesson for that. 
 
As part of his conspiracy, Razin invited Rafit to his house in Rainkhola area of Mirpur. He charged Rafit for the past fight and started hacking him indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot. Razin later phoned his father Iqbal Chowdhury, who rushed to the scene and subsequently aided his killer son to flee.  
 
Later , they met at a pre-planned spot and went into hiding at a relative’s place in Madhabpur.
