BCL to conduct policy advocacy, door-to-door campaign on Quota

DHAKA, July 13, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League, is going to conduct policy advocacy and door to door campaign aimed at bringing an inclusive solution to the issue of Quota in government jobs.

"The BCL came up with the programmes to aid the government bring an inclusive solution to the issue aimed at avoiding the traditional means of movement causing public sufferings as the ongoing blockade made common people's sufferings a lot," BCL president Saddam Hussein told a press conference today at Dhaka University's Madhu's canteen this afternoon.
 
The major activities under the campaign will be as collecting students' proposals on quota issue, distributing leaflets containing clauses and causes, adopting rational means through open discussion and to avoid programmes causing public sufferings, said Saddam, adding, "We will be approving the general students and will talk to them individually on the issue".

Through the campaign, the general students will get the opportunity to develop their capacity in terms of making state-level policy, establishing equality-based inclusive society and making constructing decisions.

BCL introduced the programme to bring an acceptable decision and rational solution through interaction with the students and policy makers avoiding public sufferings as well as ensuring education friendly environment in all the educational institutions of the country, BCL leaders said in the conference.
 
The BCL leaders invited the general students to take part in the campaign program and requested them to share their views with the BCL by email [email protected].

Saddam said, "Some students are creating an artificial crisis by blocking roads and rail lines, which is causing public suffering. That's why we are requesting students to return to their classes and take part in the exams".

Following the Supreme Court's status quo on the High Court order reinstating quotas in government jobs, general students have already left the protests but some protesters have been trying to extend the movement and use it politically, Saddam said, adding, "BCL is ready to face them".
