DHAKA, July 23, 2024 (BSS) - Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen today condemned the attacks of miscreants on service providing people and public property during the recent violence.
"Miscreants launched destructive activities on common people and government establishments . . . in the attacks, many people including members of law enforcement agencies are undergoing treatments at different hospitals," he made the comments after visiting Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Rokeya Sultana, among others, was present during the visit.
The health minister and state minister for health also visited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and Central Police Hospital in Dhaka.
Samanta said: "Attackers set ablaze on 23 vehicles and vandalized 30 more vehicles of Directorate General of Health Services. The total damages of property are Taka 30 crore. A case has been filed with Bananai Police Station in this connection."
He said it is really unfortunate for such heinous attacks on service providing people and government establishments.
During his visit, he enquired physical conditions of the victims who are taking treatments at the three hospitals and asked on-duty doctors and nurses to provide better treatment for their early recovery.
Rokeya said BNP-Jamaat men carried out a massive scale attacks on the innocent people and government establishments aiming to achieve ill political motive.
Punitive actions will be taken against the miscreants who are involved with the attacks, she added.
