Six including Jamaat Ameer remanded

DHAKA, July 24, 2024 (BSS) - A court here has placed six people including

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Dr Abdullah Md Taher, 65, on
five-day remand in a case lodged for obstructing police in conducting their
duties and causing damage to the properties.

The other remanded accused are-- Dr Md Saleh Uddin Sayeed, 59, Kamrul Ahsan
Ripon, 50, Alhaj Md Mobarak Hossain, 73, Mohammad Ali, 45, and Mehedi Hasan,
22.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the
order today as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place
them on seven-day remand.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Qamrul Islam of Dhanmandi Police Station filed the case
against the Jamaat leaders for damaging iron lampposts and railings in
Shankar Bus Stand area, vandalising a pickup truck and later torching the
vehicle there.
