BR to resume passenger train operations from tomorrow on a limited scale

DHAKA, July 24, 2024 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Railway (BR) will resume passenger train operations from tomorrow on a limited scale.

"Mail and local train services will start tomorrow. BR will also operate services on Dhaka-Narayanganj, Dhaka-Tongi routes and commuter trains in railway's eastern and western zones during curfew break," said railway ministry secretary Humayun Kabir.

Talking to BSS, he said decision to run intercity trains will be taken tomorrow after considering the overall situation.

Freight trains have started operation today, he said, adding that operation of trains carrying oil tankers was uninterrupted during the suspension of other train services.

BR suspended operation of all train services on 18 July due to the violent protest of anti-quota protesters.
