14-party leaders visit Setu Bhaban, demands punishment of attackers  

DHAKA, July 29, 2024 (BSS) – Leaders of 14-party alliance have demanded punishment of those involved in arson attack on Setu Bhaban as well as others public properties during the recent Quota reforms Movement of students as they visited the public establishment (Setu Bhaban) this morning.
  
Following the visit, the 14-party leaders led by Spokesperson of the alliance and Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu talked to media when they expressed dismay over the loss of public properties in the name of the movement. 

Amu said those who attacked the state assets are the enemy of the country’s Independence and sovereignty. “Since it is the public property, so people would be the major sufferer of the heinous damages…They (people) have to bear the losses of the sabotage for long.” 

Talking to media, President of the Workers Party of Bangladesh and 14-party leader Rashed Khan Menon said the miscreants destroyed the country’s important establishments as they wanted to turn Bangladesh into a failed state.

“We have to build up strong resistance against the culprits who are the enemy of the country and the people as well,” he added.

 AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram), who accompanied the 14-party delegation said the BNP-Jamaat and their allies were involved in vandalizing properties inside the Setu Bhaban and burnt them into ashes. 

Condemning the attack, the AL leader demanded arrest and trial of the culprits who launched the heinous attack on Setu Bhaban and others public establishments across the country taking the advantage of the recent Quota Reforms Movement of students.    

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MP, Torikat Federation Chairman Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, Workers Party General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Ganotantri Party General Secretary Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Awami League Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das and 14-party leader Dr. Washit Baran Ray, among others, were present on the occasion.
