KHULNA, July 29, 2024(BSS) - Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda distributed cheques amounting Taka 32 lakh and relief goods among poor and destitute people in Khulna on Sunday afternoon.
The minister handed over the cheques allotted by the different government institutions as the chief guest at Shaheed Zobair Ali auditorium in Dumuria upazila here.
Dumuria Upazila Administration organised the programme with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Al Amin in the chair.
The minister distributed Taka 3, 03,000 and 101 bundle corrugated iron sheet as relief goods of the ministry of relief and disaster, cheques amounting Taka 8, 15,000 among 94 destitute and marginal poor people, 27 electrical fans at nine educational institutions and five swing machines among destitute women as donation from voluntary fund of the upazila administration, cheques amounting Taka 1, 20,000 among three women as donation of the directorate of youth development.
Besides, Naryan distributed certificates among 30 poor women for cow rearing, cheques amounting Taka 18, 96,000 among 158 orphan children of 11 registered orphanage centers, three wheel chair among physically challenged children and distributed tree saplings among the students of different schools in the upazila as donation from voluntary funds and the directorate of primary education.
On the occasion, he said the government is distributing money and kinds for the destitute people for their well livelihood.
Terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as working for the well being of the country's people, the land minister said that the country's development spree will continue during the AL government regime.
Chairman of Dumuria upazila Ezaz Ahmed, freedom fighter Nurul Islam Manik and upazila project officer Md Ashraf Hossain, among others, attended the function.
