WASHINGTON, July 31, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Venezuela's presidential election did not meet standards of democratic fairness, the US-based Carter Center said on Tuesday, after incumbent Nicolas Maduro was declared the winner of the disputed poll.

"Venezuela's 2024 presidential election did not meet international standards of electoral integrity and cannot be considered democratic," the organisation, whose monitors observed the election, said in a statement.
