Sammilita Nagorik Samaj terms anarchists as enemy of country

DHAKA, July 31, 2024 (BSS) - Leaders of Sammilita Nagorik Samaj today denounced the vandalism and arson attacks on government establishments during the quota reforms movement saying that the attackers should be indentified to bring them to book.

They said vandalism was carried out in a planned way to destroy the government establishments and if stern actions are not taken against them, these terrorist forces would continue to launch arson attacks to destroy the country.

Sammilita Nagorik Samaj organized the discussion at the Jatiya Press Club with its president noted economist Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad in the chair. Prof. Dr. Rashid-E-Mahbub, General Secretary of Bangladesh Economic Association Professor Md. Aynul Islam, Vice President of Sammilita Nagorik Samaj Engr. A.K.M.A. Hamid, General Secretary M Hamid and Director of Dhaka School of Economics Dr. Jahangir Alam, among others, spoke at the meeting.
 
"Those who carried out vandalism and launched arson attacks to destroy state establishments during quota reform movement are the enemy of the country . . . they are anti-liberation forces and stern action should be taken against them," said Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad.
 
He urged all to get united upholding the spirit of Liberation War, saying that unity among pro- liberation forces can only resist the anarchists who want to destroy the spirit of Liberation War.

Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad urged the authorities concerned to disseminate accurate information about the overall situation to the people to avoid misunderstanding and confusion.

Prof. Dr. Rashid-E-Mahbub said quota issue has already been solved, but anti-liberation forces were trying to create anarchy in the country with an ill motive.
 
General Secretary of Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) Md. Shamsur Rahman said pro-liberation forcers should remain united under the leadership of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resist the anti-liberation forces, who were carrying out attacks on the government establishments, for the greater interest of the country.

General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club Shyamal Dutta said the country is passing through a tough time as the anti-liberation forces are creating anarchy in the country. He urged all to remain alert about the anarchists.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Economic Association Professor Md. Aynul Islam said pro-liberation forces should remain united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to overcome the situation.
