BCL holds lighting programme marking month of mourning

DHAKA, July 31, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists lit the light at Shahbagh marking the month of mourning commemorating Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 49th martyrdom anniversary and the National Mourning Day.

BCL, led by its central president Saddam Hussein, paid homage to Bangabandhu by lighting candles at Shahbagh this evening attended by leaders and activists from different units of the city.

Addressing the programme, BCL president Saddam Hussein said, "Turning the mourn into source of strength, we will terminate the anti-liberation war forces -- BNP-Jammat and its associates -- from its route who have been trying to destabilize the country, destroy its economy and rehabilitate Razakars depending on the general student's movement".

The quota reform movement has been a movement with no opposition as the government, judiciary and the BCL also has been working to bring a rational solution to the issue, Saddam said, "BCL hold different programmes for the quota issue including rallies, door-to-door campaigns and policy dialogues".

"However, capitalizing the movement, the armed terrorists of BNP-Jamaat carried out violence and vandalism across the country and general students became the victim of their heinous activities," said Saddam.
 
BCL General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, BCL DU unit president Mazharul Kabir Shayan, General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, Dhaka City North Unit president Riaz Mahmud and General Secretary Sagar Ahmed, Dhaka City South unit president Rajibul Islam and General Secretary Sajal Kundu also addressed on the occasion.
