DHAKA, Aug 2, 2024 (BSS) - The leaders of 'Amra Muktijoddhar Sontan (AMS)', an organization of the children of freedom fighters, today demanded stern punishment of those who are involved in spreading rumors through Facebook, YouTube and other social media platforms.

They came up with the demand in an emergency meeting organized by the organization aiming to determine the programmes for observing the 'National Mourning Day' amid the ongoing violence across the country.

The meeting was held at Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in the city's Kakrail area

With AMS Central President Md Sajjad Hossain in the chair, the meeting was moderated by general secretary of the organization Rasheduzzaman Shahin.

Noting that one rumor is more terrible than a thousand of atomic bombs, they said that in order to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country and deal with the threat to humanity and nationality, the rumor mongers should be brought under exemplary strict punishment.
