Police liberation war museum, police box vandalized in Ctg

 
CHATTOGRAM, Aug 2, 2024 (BSS) - The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Liberation War Museum, two police boxes and armored vehicles were attacked and vandalized during a mass rally organized by the student movement demanding quota reforms.
 
CMP Public Relations Officer and Additional Police Commissioner Kazi Md Tarek Aziz said legal measures are under process over this incident.
 
Tarek Aziz confirmed BSS at 8 pm on Friday.
 
He said, "While the agitators were taking the procession, they first attacked the police vehicle in city's Wasa Crossing area.
 
"They vandalized the police box after damaging the vehicle at Wasa crossing. Then they broke the nameplate of CMP Police Liberation War Museum on the way to GEC junction via Dampara. The whole matter is under investigation," he added.


 
Earlier, the program of 'prayer and mass procession' from the city's Andarkillah Jame Masjid after Juma prayers started peacefully in the beginning.

Later, the procession passed through Newmarket, the city's busiest area, and blocked the road to Tigerpass. Finally, stones were thrown at police armored vehicles in Wasa area, police boxes and police liberation war museum were vandalized on the way from Tigerpass to GEC, police said.
