DHAKA, Aug 7, 2024 (BSS) - M Mainul Islam has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police.

Earlier, he was commandant of traffic and driving school, Dhaka as the Additional IGP.

With an order of President Mohammed Shahabuddin, a gazette notification in this regard has been issued from the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday night.

The order issued for the public interest would be effective immediately, it said.

Prior to this, the contact of IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was cancelled and released him from his post, another gazette notification said.
