CUMILLA (SOUTH), Aug 9, 2024 (BSS) – People of all strata of life are rejoicing and distributing sweets amid huge enthusiasm at Akubpur village under Muradnagar upazila here today since Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, one of the coordinators of Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement, has taken oath as an advisor of the newly formed interim government.
After topple of the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina due to mass upsurge led by the Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement on August 5, a 17-member interim government was formed under the leadership of eminent social worker and Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus.
Neighbors of Asif Mahmud, who is also a student of language science department at Dhaka University, are celebrating the achievement amid fireworks and the cross section people are greeting Asif and his family members by tagging them in different posts on the social media.
“Asif, son of M Billal Hossain and Rukshana Begum, and also a resident of our village, has succeeded in the movement and eventually become an advisor of the newly formed interim government…I along with my all the villagers are very happy and we arranged doa-mahfil after the Jummah prayers”, said a Union Parishad (UP) member Salauddin Khan.
A procession also was held this afternoon, said the UP member.
“The people of our union and the people of Muradnagar upazila are very happy as our son Asif became an advisor equivalent to the status of minister”, said Chairman of Akubpur union parishad Shimul Billal.
