KHULNA, Aug 11, 2024 (BSS) - Teachers and employees of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) today demanded resignation of Vice-Chancellor Dr Mihir Ranjan Halder and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Sobhan Mia on charge of different allegations including non cooperation with anti-discrimination students movement.

They also demanded to begin all academic activities immediately.

The general teachers-employees made the demand in a protest meeting at the Shaheed Minar of KUET campus after parading different streets in the campus. The procession began from KUET administrative building and ended on the Shaheed Minar premises.

Among others, KUET Prof Dr Aftab Hossain, Prof Dr M A Hashem, Prof Dr Shahjahan and Prof Razia Khatun addressed the meeting. Most of the teachers including acting VC of KUET Prof Dr Sayedul Islam, Prof Dr Habibur Rahman, Prof Dr Golam Kader, Prof Dr Md Helal An-Nahian, Prof Mahmudul Alam and officers and employees were present.

Terming existing VC and Pro-VC as supporters of fascism and mentioning their non cooperation with anti-discrimination students’ movement, the speakers said, we are expressing regret to the students in this regard.

The speakers gave an ultimatum to the VC and Pro-VC for their resignation within next 48 hours as the duo are at large since the AL government ousting.

They also threatened for dire consequences if quick resignation is not submitted in due time.
