NOAKHALI, Aug 13, 2024 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX) has discovered gas at four levels in a well at Ambarnagar union of Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali.
The BAPEX started drilling a well at Wasekpur village under Ambarnagar union of Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali and found natural gas reserve while drilling at 3,113 metres deep.
Md Asaduzzaman, in charge of drilling the Begumganj-4 (West) valuation well, confirmed the matter to the media today.
He said drilling of the well was officially inaugurated on April 29 and it was completed ahead of schedule.
Now each layer of the well will be tested to determine the extractable gas reserve, he added.
BAPEX hoped that initially it would be able to extract 10 million cubic feet of gas per day from each of the four zones and supply to the national grid through Bakhrabad.
