Chhatra Dal observes sit-in demanding punishment of Sheikh Hasina 

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal observed a sit-in program at the Central Shaheed Minar today, demanding exemplary punishment of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the killings that occurred during quota reform movement.

Students from different units of Chhatra Dal, including Chhatra Dal Kendrio Sangsad, Dhaka University Unit of Chhatra Dal, Jagannath University Chhatra Dal, Dhaka College, Tejgaon College, Kabi Nazrul College, Bangla College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnessa Govt Girls' College and various private colleges gathered on the premises of the Shaheed Minar and staged a sit-in program from 10am to 5pm there, said a press release. 

"Chhatra Dal leaders and activists are expressing solidarity with the programs announced by Anti-Discrimination Student Movement," said President of Chhatra Dal Central Committee Rakibul Islam while addressing the sit-in program. 

"We observed the agitation program for the justice of the students and mass people killed during the quota reform movement," Rakibul said also seeking justice for Chhatra Dal leaders and activists who were forcibly disappeared in the last 15 years. 

He also demanded the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). 

Vice presidents of Chhatra Dal Kendrio Sangsad Jahiruddin, and Izzajul Kabir, Manjurul Riyad, Riyad Rahman, HM Abu Jafar, Shakir Ahmed and Sohel Rana, among others, spoke at the event.
