KHULNA, Aug 15, 2024 (BSS)-A court here today instructed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the murder case of Babul Kazi, vice president of ward no 31 of the city BNP, against three police men including Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Sonali Sen.

The other two accused are-the then Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar police station Ashraful Islam and Sub-Inspector Monir Hossain.

The court also asked the PBI to submit its investigation report by October 23 next.

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) of Khulna Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Anisur Rahman gave this order today after Fatema Begum, wife of the deceased filed the petition before the court.

Towhidur Rahman Tushar, lawyer of the compliant, said receiving the petition, the Metropolitan Magistrate asked the PBI to investigate it and submit the investigation report by October 23.

On March 29 in 2021, Babul Kazi, vice-president of 31-no ward BNP received severe injuries while police charge baton on him in the city street during agitation programme enforced by BNP in protest against government misrule and release of Begum Khaleda Zia.

Babul succumbs to his injury on April 11 in 2021, said the lawyer quoting the petition.
