DHAKA, Aug 16, 2024 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs (CHT) Adviser Supradip Chakma today said that the government will mitigate the crisis of schooling in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).
"We want to ensure quality education for our children. Multimedia classrooms and digitization education system will be made in educational institutions. We will remove the crisis of education in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT)," he said.
He said these while addressing an open discussion held at the auditorium of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex Bhaban on Bailey Road in the capital as the chief guest, a press release said.
Hill people living in the three districts and in the capital, student-teacher representatives of the hill regions working in government, non-governmental and international organizations, representatives of Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Oikkyo Parishad and representatives of various service organizations and people of various classes and professions gathered in the complex to congratulate Supradip Chakma for being an adviser to the interim government.
The advisor said: "The hill people need to know how to acquire modern education. We will build an English curriculum school in Khagrachari."
Adviser Supradip urged the hill children to study in army schools to get quality education.
Four hostels are being constructed for the students in CHT regions, he said, adding that a hostel for students is in progress at Rajasthali upazila in Rangamati.
He emphasized on livelihood development in the three hill districts to make the hill dwellers financially independent.
The number of women members in three district councils will be increased, he said, adding that after discussing with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, three ambulances will be arranged for three hill districts for the treatment of pregnant women and children.
He said that a nursing college will be established at Khagrachari and a college at Belaichhari for the hill dwellers.
Apart from these, those who cannot speak Bengali language, arrangements will be made to teach them Bengali, he said, adding that the district councils will be restructured and good governance will be established.
Personal Secretary to the Adviser (Deputy Secretary) Kongkan Chakma was present, among others, on the occasion.
