SAVAR, August 17, 2024 (BSS)- A murder case has been filed against 119
people, including two former Members of Parliament (MPs), in connection with
the death of a class 10 student in Savar during anti-discrimination student
movement on August 5.
The two former lawmakers of Dhaka-19 Muhammad Saiful Islam, also general
secretary of Ashulia Thana Awami League (AL), and Talukder Tauhid Jang Murad
are among the accused.
Besides, Ashulia Thana AL President Faruk Hasan Tuhin, Savar Municipal AL
President Abdul Gani, Pathalia Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Parvez Dewan,
Ashulia UP Chairman Sahabuddin Madbar, Yarpur UP Chairman Suman Bhuiya, Savar
Upazila AL former General Secretary Ali Haider and Ashulia Thana Jubo League
Convener Kabir Hossain Sarkar were accused of the murder in the case filed by
the deceased's cousin Sahid Hasan Mithu on Friday night.
In the case, many unnamed persons were also made accused.
According to the case, As-Sabur, 16, a student of class 10, went to the
Bypile area from Shimultala, where he used to live with his family, around
11am on August 5.
After receiving a call around 2pm, the plaintiff went to the Bypile
intersection area and found the victim's mutilated body lying there.
The case statement also mentioned that the victim was beaten and shot dead by
the cadres of Awami League and its affiliates organisations.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station AFM Syed said: "We are
working to arrest the accused soon."
