COX'SBAZAR, Aug 18, 2024 (BSS) - At least three persons including a woman and children of a family were killed in a landslide early this morning triggered from heavy rainfall.

"The incident occurred at Jarulbhunia Segunbagicha area under Philkhali union of Pekua upazila", said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Saiful Islam Joy.

The deceased were identified as Mamtaz Begum, 32, wife of M Sarwar Alam, their daughter Maina, 13 and son Toha, 8.

Heavy rainfall occurred on Saturday overnight and as a result of it the landslide happened at around 3.30am, the UNO said.

Upazila administration and police recovered the bodies from the spot.

Necessary action has been taken for burial.
