No discrimination in CHT: Supradip

RANGAMATI, Aug 24, 2024 (BSS)- Advisor of the interim government on Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Supradip Chakma has said the CHT areas would be developed under a neural leadership as a region completely free from all discrimination.

“The Chattogram Hill Tracts will be developed free from all discrimination . . . Besides, the hill district councils will be reconstituted with non-partisan neutral persons,” he said here today.

The adviser was speaking at a views-exchange meeting with representatives of Rangamati administration, civil society members, journalists and students representatives at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room here this morning.

The CHT affairs adviser said, “All government development organizations will be the platform of public welfare in line with their expectation, keeping them free from political divide.”

He said steps would be taken to improve the living condition of the CHT people by removing all kinds of irregularities, corruption and unfairness.

The advisor said the present government is firmly committed to work for the welfare of the country and common masses by maintaining neutrality in all activities.

Two representatives of the ‘Anti-Discrimination Students Movement’ would be included in the CHT district councils to gear up the ongoing activities of the CHT, he said.


He extended thanks and expressed his gratitude to all who stood beside the flood-affected people in the southeastern part of the country.

During the meeting, Supradip Chakma urged the hilly people to provide all-out cooperation to the incumbent government, advising them to maintain a communal harmony for their peaceful coexistence.

Rangamati DC Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan presided over the meeting while CHT Affairs Secretary Kangkan Chakma was present, among others, on the occasion.
