DHAKA, Aug 25, 2024 (BSS) - The city dwellers have breathed a sigh of relief with resumption of the Metrorail services from this morning after a suspension of 37 days due to damage in an attack during the quota reform movement.
"The operation of the Metrorail services has resumed with departure of a train at 7.10am today from Uttra North Station for Motijheel," said an official release of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).
The second train left the Uttara North Station for Motijheel at 7:20am, the release said.
The Metrorail services had been suspended since July 18, as two of its stations, Kazipara and Mirpur-10 were badly damaged in the violence during the movement. So, the operation of Kazipara and Mirpur-10 Metrorail stations will remain closed, the release said.
The weekly off-day for the Metrorail will remain on Friday as per the earlier schedule.
The passengers having MRT passes only can travel by the Metrorail which is scheduled to leave at 9.13pm from Motijheel station.
One can purchase single journey ticket from the Metrorail stations from 7:20am to 8:50pm. They can also purchase MRT passes and top up those during the period.
However, all the ticket selling offices and machines of the Metrorail will remain closed after 8:50pm.
