DHAKA, Aug 26, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said cohorts of the ousted autocrat are still staying in different positions including public administration.
Cohorts of the autocrat are carrying out different evil-efforts to make the interim government unstable, he said.
Rizvi was addressing a function as the chief guest marking the launching of the aid programme of Association of Engineers Bangladesh (AEB) for flood-affected people at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital's Ramna area.
At the directives of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the aiding programme began since Monday morning under the arrangement of AEB for the people who have been affected in flood in some districts in the north-eastern region of the country in unusual period.
"The autocrat Sheikh Hasina government unleashed different repressions on us over the last 16 years. Those who are in service and who waged anti-autocracy movement were repressed in various ways. Their owing promotions and decent positing were not given. They had to face various suppressions," the BNP's senior leader said.
Even after that, these officials kept hoisted the flag of nationalism during the tough period even knowing the danger, he said.
"Now we have been able to take breath in free atmosphere. But cohorts of the autocrat are staying in different institutions including pubic administration," said Rizvi.
"The cohorts are still making evil efforts so that we are now concerned in various ways about counter-revolution. They (cohorts) are still hiding in all places," he said.
If Ansar members had any demands, they could have discussed but they didn't, he said.
Rizvi questioned from where the ansar members dared to confine someone even after getting assurance of meeting their demands.
Actually, these kinds of acts are being carried out to make the interim government unstable in a planned way, he said.
"Who are the secretaries still holding their positions? They were recruited during the tenure of the ousted autocrat Sheikh Hasina. And who are the current SPs (Superintendents of Police)? They were not less oppressors," said BNP senior joint secretary general.
Rizvi demanded a reshuffle in the field-level administration to resist fascism, because the cohorts of the autocrat are still waiting for an opportunity to carry out a counter-revolution after bringing back Sheikh Hasina.
BNP Science and Technology Affairs Secretary and AEB President Engineer Riazul Islam Rizu and other party leaders were present on the occasion.
