DHAKA, Aug 27, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sent former chief engineer and ship surveyor of the Shipping Department Dr SM Nazmul Haque and his wife Sahela Nazmul to jail in a graft case filed against them in 2023.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order as the accused surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail this morning.

On July 30, 2023, ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam filed the case

According to the case statement, they were accused of concealing the information of movable and immovable assets worth Taka 2.65 crore.

Earlier on 12 April, 2018, Haque was caught red-handed while taking bribe at a hotel in the city's Shegunbagicha area, during a sting operation conducted by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
