DHAKA, August 28, 2024 (BSS)- Advisor of the interim government in charge of the Ministry of Textile and Jute M Sakhawat Hussain has said eco-friendly Sonali Bag (golden sack) will immensely contribute regaining the golden age of jute.
Environment friendly aspects of the Sonali Bag have huge demand among users at home and abroad. The bag will have demand outside the country after meeting local demand, he said.
The advisor said this while talking with Dr Mubarak Ahmad Khan, inventor of the Sonali Bag at his ministry office here today.
Secretary of Textile and Jute Ministry Abdur Rauf was present.
Dr Mubarak Ahmad Khan handed over a Sonali Bag to the Adviser, which he first made of cellulose of jute in 2016.
In 2017, a project was undertaken to produce such bag at Latif Bawani Jute Mills, a sister concern of BJMC.
Under a research project financed by Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund the quality of Sonali Bag has been improved further last year.
