DHAKA, Aug 29, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today placed former commerce minister Tipu Munshi on four-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Sumon Shikder, 31, in the capital's Badda area during the recent anti-discrimination students movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order as police produced Munshi before the court and pleaded to place him on eight-day remand.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from the capital's Gulshan area on early August 28.

Shumon Shikder was brutally gunned down in front of Fuji Tower in Badda on July 19. His mother Masuma Begum filed the case against 179 including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
