FENI, Sept 1, 2024 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik today said the whole country is working in combine for the flood victims.
“I didn’t witness such enthusiasm among the people of the country in the past in my life,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting on assessment of ongoing flood and coordination of relief activities at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room here.
Referring to the volunteer works of youth in repairing the road damaged by flood in Parshuram, he said they didn’t wait for the government’s allocation or officials of the concerned offices.
“The country’s youth has brought the changes sacrificing blood. So, we don’t want to lose it,” he said adding that work has to be done for flood victims on priority basis considering their need.
Mentioning that it’s not in existence now that one has to wait with flower bouquet to receive minister, he said, “We’re fully independent in own fields. Life has to spend with dignity with coordinating merit.”
Faruk E Azam told the officials of administration that he came here to inspire the officials concerned who are working in the flood-hit areas.
He said that he is trying to realize the reality of flood through this visit in last three days and the Chief Adviser has directive on it.
The adviser announced of forming a coordination committee for rehabilitation activities in the flood-hit areas making the Deputy Commissioner as coordinator.
Representatives of anti-discriminatory student movement, NGOs, Women, financial institutions, micro-credit organizations, distinguished locals and law enforcement agencies will be included in the committee.
Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Md Tofail Islam, Cumilla Cantonment GOC Maj Gen Mohammad Jahangir Alam and UNICEF Chattogram Field Office Chief Madhuri Banerjee also spoke on the occasion with Feni Deputy Commissioner Mst Shahina Akhter in the chair.
