DHAKA, Sept 2, 2024 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said the government would show no compromise with standard in the development works by creating scopes for all the stakeholders through open competition.  

“No compromise will be shown in quality of works,” he said when a seven-member delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led by country manager of Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal Martin Holtman paid a courtesy call at the latter’s ministry office at Secretariat here. 

The adviser said his government has been creating scopes for all the stakeholders to take part in the tenders through open competitions to ensure quality in works at lower costs. 
        
Fouzul Kabir, also adviser of power, energy and mineral resources has also sought financial and technical cooperation from the IFC member countries in overcoming the gas crisis and the efforts to enhance the use of renewable energy with reducing utilization of the fossil fuel. 

He also sought support from the IFC to boost tourism in the areas adjacent to the Padma Multipurpose Bridge. 

The adviser expressed his satisfaction over the existing relations between the IFC and Bangladesh and praised the role of IFC for mutual partnership and cooperation in the development of his country. 

Fouzul Kabir, also adviser of the Railways Ministry, said that the interim government is the outcome of the student-people movement, saying, “So, it (interim government) has been making best efforts to reach services to every doorstep.” 
        
The IFC country manager said his organization will always extend support to transform Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country.

The delegation also said that they want to invest in energy sector of Bangladesh for which the country needs to devise a long term plan. 

Additionally, the IFC expressed its keenness to provide necessary financial and technical cooperation on priority basis in different sectors of rail, road and bridges division. . 
     
IFC’s Manager of Upstream and Advisory Asia Pacific Victoria Hilda Rigby Delmon, Manager of Infrastructure-Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Edore Elaine Onomakpome and Principal Investment Officer, Asia Infrastructure, Michael Sheng and high officials of the concerned ministries were present.
