Robi launches medical camps in Flood-hit Feni


DHAKA, Sept 3, 2024 (BSS) - Mobile phone operator, Robi today launched medical camps in the flood-hit Feni district to provide urgent healthcare services to the flood victims.


The medical camps began operation in collaboration with doctors and students from Sandhani unit of Chittagong Medical College, said a Robi press release.


The recent floods have severely impacted various regions of the country, creating an urgent need for medical assistance.


Responding to the situation, Robi is operating medical camps in different parts of Feni. Each camp is managed by a dedicated team of doctors and volunteers, with the capacity to provide emergency health services to 300-400 people per camp.


Initially, a medical camp has been set up at Fulgazi Hasanpur Government Primary School in Feni. Robi plans to set up more camps in the coming days, said the release.


The locations for these camps have been chosen in coordination with regional representatives and Sandhani. Other selected sites for the camps include Dhonikunda Bazar, Shantir Bazar, Darogarhat, Bottoli Bazar, Rejumia, Satkuchia, Puratan Munshirhat, Shubhopur, and Boktarhat.


Shahed Alam, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer of Robi Axiata Limited, said, "Our primary goal now is to provide urgent medical care, necessary medicines, and water purification tablets to the affected people."


Robi expressed its sincere gratefulness to all the doctors, students, and other volunteers from Sandhani unit of Chittagong Medical College who has joined in this initiative.


"We will also work closely with the local community to ensure the successful implementation of these medical camps," he added.


Earlier, Robi took the initiative to distribute 10,000 relief packages to thousands of waterlogged families in Khagrachari, Noakhali, and Feni with the help of volunteer organisations.


In addition to providing free talk-time and internet to maintain uninterrupted communication for the flood victims, Robi has also provided 5,000 SIM cards, along with 200 minutes of free talk-time and 5GB of data, to the volunteers.


Moreover, 75,000 retailers are being offered free talk-time and internet services.
