Govt works to rehabilitate flood victims: Adviser Khalid

LAKSHMIPUR, Sept 5, 2024 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Advisor Dr A F M Khalid Hossain today said the interim government is working for the rehabilitation of flood victims.

"The government stands by the people affected by the flood victims," he told journalists during distribution of relief materials among the flood affected people on Char Matua Al Arabiya Darul Uloom Madrasa premises at Teariganj union of this morning.

Al-Manahil Foundation organized the relief distribution function.

The adviser said the government is distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people and providing medical treatment free of cost to the flood victims.

Apart from the government, various private organizations, NGOs, voluntary organizations, students of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and alem-ulama and peer-mashaikh have extended their helping hands to the flood-hit people. 

President of Lakshmipur District Imam Association Maulana Haroon Al Madani presided over the function while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Suraiya Jahan and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tarek Bin Rashid were present as guests.

Among others, Chattogram Jamia Islamia Jiri Madrasa's Maulana Khobaib bin Taiyab Taiyab and former chairman of Kamalnagar Upazila Parishad Maulana Khaled Saifullah, among others, were also present.

A total of 700 flood-affected families of the area were given relief materials, including sarees and lungis.

Earlier, the adviser distributed relief materials to the flood victims at Al Moin Islamic Academy in the district town.

Later, he distributed relief and house making materials among the flood victims at Bhabaniganj Bhumukhi High School ground at the initiative of Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation.
