'White Paper' committee seeks recommendations from public

DHAKA, Sep 5, 2024 (BSS) - The committee on the preparation for the "White Paper on the State of Bangladesh Economy" has sought recommendations from the public.

The committee today published a list of channels, including an email address, a Facebook page and a LinkedIn profile, through which interested persons can put their suggestions and recommendations, said a press release.

Recommendations can be sent to "[email protected]" on email; at www.facebook.com/whitepaperbd2024 on Facebook and at www.linkedin.com/company/whitepaperbd2024 on LinkedIn.

Besides, a suggestion box will be kept in the office of the committee at Block-4, ground floor in the Ministry of Planning where recommendations can be submitted in writing.

 "The committee feels that it will be possible to publish a complete white paper with the cooperation of all," the committee said.

 The committee also sought recommendations on the following issues: Accuracy and reliability of government statistics; current challenges in macroeconomics; review of GDP growth; inflation trends and their impacts; poverty, inequality and vulnerability; internal resource extraction; evaluation of priorities in allocation of public expenditure; foreign exchange balance and credit capacity, appraisal of mega-projects, actual condition of banking sector; energy and power sector situation; business environment and private investment; illicit money and laundering; labour market dynamics and youth employment; foreign labour market and migrant workers' rights.

Earlier on August 29, the interim government formed the committee on "White Paper on the State of Bangladesh Economy" with country's noted economist Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya in the chair.
